Recycling champion?

Do you care about sustainability and protecting the planet? Come and volunteer with Wakefield Recycles

Renewi, working in partnership with Wakefield Council, is the waste management company that manages the whole of the waste disposal in Wakefield district. Our dedicated Education Team work closely with Wakefield residents, schools and local community groups to try to help them understand how to live more sustainably including reducing the amount of rubbish they create, reusing items and recycling correctly.

We are looking for volunteers who are interested in the environment and sustainability and want to help us spread the word!

Events you could volunteer at include open days at our purpose-built Education Centre in South Kirkby, large scale events such as Rhubarb Festival and Armed Forces Day and workshops for local community groups.

Training will be provided and you will gain a wide range of skills and knowledge from how the waste industry works to team work and public liaison.

This exciting opportunity is suitable for students looking for work experience, retired people looking for a past time they care about, or anyone with an interest in protecting the planet.

  • Minimum age – 18
  • Expenses – Basic travel costs and refreshments will be provided.
  • Requirements – A genuine interest in sustainability and ability to work with others.
  • Skills gained – team work, communication, problem solving
