We have an opportunity for an Engineering Maintenance Manager to join our Wakefield team. You will be responsible for managing a multi-disciplined engineering and maintenance team (approx. 25) whose function is:

  • The safe provision of engineering and maintenance services to the facility and to optimise plant operating performance by developing and implementing continuous improvement culture and raising capability of team members. The objective is to improve asset availability, extending asset life and reducing the overall operational costs
  • To deploy, implement and maintain the business maintenance management systems, the associated processes and the enabling technology
  • Caring for a facility of HWRC, Materials Recycling Facility (MRF), Composting (Part year operations), Residual Waste Reception Hall, Pre-sort (RWTF), Boilers, Autoclave, Anaerobic Digest Plant and Biogas Engines.

Responsibilities include:
  • Provide technical leadership to the facility and to deliver the maintenance strategy to the required quality, cost and delivery objectives
  • Ensure all activities meet Renewi policy standards, health and safety standards and statutory regulations and compliance with waste licence requirements
  • Responsible for the maintenance performance of all assets, contributing towards improving and delivering asset maintenance plans
  • Manage outsourced contracted works and contractor performance
  • Manage the engineering and maintenance budget (approx. £3M pa) and actively strive to improve maintenance and asset life cycle costs
  • The development and implementation of engineering and maintenance projects, both capital and operational
  • Effective management of resource during major and minor plant shutdowns
  • Development and training of maintenance team members and succession planning for key roles
What we're looking for :
  • Degree/HND or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline
  • Experience of managing and maintaining a large processing facility
  • Experience of managing capital and operational expenditure / budget management
  • Experience of managing and developing a team
  • In depth understanding of relevant health, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Good people skills; be able to communicate at all levels throughout the company and externally
  • Good numeracy and written skills
  • IOSH Certificate
  • Full driving licence
Practical considerations :
  • Working knowledge of pressure systems legislation (PSSR 2000), Lifting operations (LOLER 1998) Provision and Use of Work Equipment (PUWER 1998), and Workshop Safety (HSG129)
  • Good awareness of The Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres (DSEAR 2002), ATEX Legionella Control (ACoP L8), Electricity At Work Regulations (EaWR 1989) and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH 2002), Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM 2015)
